Quality deck winches with stainless steel central rods and roller bearings with bronze gears, requiring very little maintenance.
The self-tailing versions feature a spring loaded disk which adapts automatically to even the thinnest ropes and, if overloading
occurs, it releases the line to avoid excess force on the self-tailing arm.

HARKEN WINCHES are 25 to 50% lighter than conventional winches
and have many innovative features. The screw-like grip drives the line
downwards when easing for maximum control and the one-piece stripper arm
prevents fingers and clothing from catching in moving parts. The composite
roller bearings and bushings reduce friction under load & don’t require
lubrication meaning easier maintenance and servicing.
